finding inspiration and communicating an idea, you also have to be practical

when preparing for your fashion sparkle sets.

You must consider many logistics before your shoot:

■ Can the client do the hair and makeup herself, or do you need to hire

someone?

■ If shooting on location, how can you get permission to shoot on the

location, and do you need extra insurance? Is it necessary to pay to rent the

location? (See Chapter 2, “Shoot on Location. ”)

■ How about studio room lighting, an extra admin, or special tools?

■ Is design props and clothing something you are comfortable doing yourself,

or do you need to get advice or hire a stylist?

■ Do you need to buy or rent extra props to communicate your idea?

■ Is there a specific time you must shoot to get a certain lighting

effect?

As with things in life, you live and you learn. You will figure out the questions

to ask, and there will automatically be unexpected complications or costs at some point.

With an increase of experience, you’ll learn to anticipate what could go wrong and take

steps to compensate. Remember that at some point, things should go wrong, but

that’s yet another chance to learn.
